STOP THAT CAR!

I'm in a band called The Ting Tings. I'm really fortunate to travel a lot and see lots of things in shop windows and galleries that make me go ooooow. So in an attempt to find time in my life to go and investigate these beautiful things! - I'm setting up this page as an excuse to say STOP THAT CAR!

Hello! Ting Tings Tumblr also up now xx

HAND…..BINDI

Found the most beautiful hand bindi the other day… Walked into an Indian book shop and came out with this for a fiver!  I cant wear gloves onstage as I play guitar- even fingerless ones get in the way. So these are coming on tour with me to Australia next month. ………..They are also the prettiest way to insult somebody.

Cold Cold London

Still in London freezing my eyeballs….writing, writing not brushing hair, ordering take away food and getting occasional visits from friends. On the odd times I have ventured out its been duvet covers for clothes.

I overdosed on legging in my band. They kept my modesty on stage so no photographers could flash my arse as I was hurling myself around the stage. I thought my love affair was over until I found these by Clarissa Labin on my recent trip to Berlin.. Simple metallic circles on the knee’s make them feel new and non american apparel like. They look like little knee plates of armour  against the cold. And keep me waaaarrrmm!

More from this designer..

cute.

so cute. I wore something from these Mexican designers on our sat night live performance a few months ago.

the s/s 11 is made for me..loooveee.

The inspiration behind the eye pieces..

And ta da! It morphs into something I’m now obsessed with

And I would cut out a few dime bars in my life to wear these..

Non cheap looking boob pom poms!

And they all will go with my new pink hair…Buts that’s another story.

Berlin techno doof doof

Found a shop today in Berlin I have wanted to visit for a while. Its called star styling

http://www.starstyling.net/ and makes clever clothes that are a little bit clubby but in a good way. It makes me want to go out and dance. It also has some pretty clothes. Susie got me a top a few months ago that is really girly and elegant but today I was in doof doof mood.

The friendly guy in the shop told me about these sun visors he brought back from Korea.

Apparently the height of Korean uncool with oap’s wearing them for sun protection. Here they are more loved!

Who needs big sunglasses with these! Covers up hangovers and dark circles. May frighten small children.

We have a video idea for one of our songs that involves me wanting to play golf. I always imagined wearing golf attire in the video with a really poppy sun visor. I HAVE FOUND THAT SUN VISOR!

now just got to make the video.

Almost got this jacket that felt like a shiny duvet.

Kind of wish I did now…. It had the biggest pockets at the front. So big you would not have to carry a handbag. I also wish I got this skirt. Not really my style, Its like tinsel and gives a big F U to my attempt at minimalist living…. BUT its a tinsel skirt!

francoisenichole asked: If you're in the brick lane area, Absolute Vintage on Hanbury Street is a must. It's in the Spitalfields Market area, round the corner from All Saints. Probably shouldn't be mentioning it - I challenge you too come out empty handed!! Truly amazing :)

Thank you ! gonna go there next week…if i spend a fortune im invoicing you! ha ( :

brick Lane

For the next few weeks we are gonna be based in a lovely apartment near Brick lane in London. This is going to be a huge problem for me as there are so many shops and cool stuff to go and find.
I ventured out for ONE hour yesterday down TWO streets and already came home with random things..oh dear..

First stop was Brick Lane itself that has an awesome market on a Sunday.. I don’t think I even scratched the surface of it as it was so busy.

To make it worse I was trying to navigate it in these…

I gave up after nearly breaking my leg and wandered down to Spitalfields Market..
Clara Francis was my first obsession. Beautiful delicate Jewelry made out of Beads.

I got this Deer face piece.

Loved these.

I then staggered down the street and found a shop called Dolly Dare. it really reminded me of the cute boutiques like (MILK) in Tokyo.
Anyway, a lot of it was not my style but I got seriously obsessed with this mannequin in the window.

They had a lot of dresses that had these tutu’s underneath…

I love a TUTU!!!!!!!!!!! And with my new obsession with the sinister doll mannequin The dress came home…oh dear.

I WILL be taking on that market next week. In flat Shoes.

pendleton meets opening ceremony

I have a jacket from this collaboration and have just spotted this. I would probably look awful in it as I have bizarrely long legs and arms -seriously.. I used to drag my arms on the floor when I was little) but I still love it.

The bag is great.

I got the dress!

The light is shocking in this hotel room! But if you can see it has a perspex collar..so cool. And I can actually breath in it. Just been to a premier for a film called red. pooped.

J J.S. Lee for Jools Holland

I think we found my perfect dress. minimalist, strange and modern.

The designer is JJ.S Lee who recently won a new gen at London fashion week. Here is a Jools Holland performance with me wearing it.

I’m not sure if you can see the detail on Jools but it has an interesting collar that is kind of part of the dress, not separate to it and the quality and detail was AMAZING.

Here is more of her stuff. I cant pull A/W 2010 pics off her website. So click on link to see. The green dress is cool.

Creepers

So, Jules has been banging on about wanting creepers for ages…I didn’t give much thought as to what they actually are and ignored him as per usual!!!!

Anyway, when I met up with susie style bubble the other day she had on some chunky punk-ish things that are in fact tuk creepers. A UK brand that make amazing ones. So on the phone we got and I now have 2 lovely pairs of kick arse shoes that get strange looks in airports and nods of mohawked respect from the punks in berlin..ya ya ya! So yeah, creepers.

I was talking to some lovely pr guy the other day in Berlin with a bizarre hat that had jail bait written on in marker pen…….anyway, he told me he has some vintage original ones with an inbuilt coffin shaped box inside to put drugs or whatever they did in. Pretty random. I think the flip flops that I got given as a present with an inbuilt bottle opener in the sole are better..trashy!

Another day of promo…. henry Holland for pretty polly tights - http://www.houseofholland.co.uk/

Horace jumper that was brought to us for Jules but i robbed it! -

http://horace.tv/

Doc Martins that I can walk in.

http://www.drmartens.com/

Its been a lonnnnnggg day here in the uk….

Here is an outfit I stuck on for promo…Susie got me an amazing Tina Kalivas skirt a couple of months ago… Only really studied it today and I love it. Its got great detail and print and kicked out on the hip making me feel super feminine..

http://www.tinakalivas.com/home.html

I had a pair of norwegian wood cycling shorts on underneath.

OK, down to the shoes. I have loved 80/20 shoes for a good year and a half. I hate to feel too overdressed and tottering about on stage kind of kills the way I perform, so casual looking shoes with a hidden wage are my savior! Pretty much every pair of shoes made have a hidden wedge.. And they are not a fortune which is always nice..
